2020 May: Replacing Broken Hinges

Published by admin on

Trip to Minnesota.

Headed out but stayed overnight at a KOA in Wisconsin

Chippewa National Forest

Got a flat tire on the truck 🙁 I did get to try out my solar panel and generator though.

BROKEN HINGES AND REPLACEMENT

The many failures of the cast aluminum hinges on the Scamp have been well documented. My was 18 months old and they broke. Scamp still charged me a lot of money for replacement strap steel hinges.

Replacing the hinges requires cutting the rat fur to get access to the nuts on the back of the hinges. The bottom hinge was the hardest since it was down in the cubby hole.

The spacers for the cast aluminum are not a perfect fit for the steel hinges so the nuts cant tighten all the way. I had to use washers as spacers.

Mileage Report

We averaged 15.9 mpg over 1629.40miles on this trip.

The overall weighted mpg average with the F150/Scamp 19 Deluxe is 15.3 mpg over 10.1K miles.
